How it is calculated
- Entitlement: 30 days.
- Day’s wage: monthly wage ÷ 30.
- 30 days a year after one year of service; 2 days for each month between 6 and 12 months of service.
- Unused leave at the end of service is paid on basic wage.

An employee on AED 8,000.00 a month, with 6 years of service and 10 unused days when leaving:

Untaken leave is paid out when the contract ends. On a wage of AED 8,000.00 a month (AED 266.67 a day):

What to know in UAE
Article 29 gives 30 calendar days of annual leave a year once you complete one year of service. Between six and twelve months you earn 2 days for each completed month, so nine months of service gives 18 days. The calculator counts that first-year accrual month by month rather than giving a flat figure.
Unused leave still owed when you leave is paid on basic wage, which is why final-settlement figures often look lower than people expect. We value each day at basic ÷ 30, the common practice. How many days can be carried into the next year depends on your company policy and contract, so check those before counting on a large balance.
