How it is calculated
- Last salary: total monthly salary ÷ 30 × days worked but not yet paid.
- Gratuity: 21 days’ wage for each of years 1–5, then 30 days’ wage for each year after 5, capped at 24 months’ wage, on your last basic wage (allowances excluded).
- Unused leave: basic wage ÷ 30 × earned leave days not taken. Annual entitlement: 30 days (Article 29).
- Notice pay: total salary ÷ 30 × notice days not served. The employer pays it if it ended the contract without notice; it is deducted from you if you resigned without serving notice. Statutory notice: At least 30 days and no more than 90 days (Art. 43).
- Deductions: loans, advances or other sums you genuinely owe. You can ask for each one in writing.
Worked example
An employee on AED 12,000.00 a month (AED 7,200.00 of it basic) worked from 1 January 2019 to 31 March 2026, the employer ended the contract, and 20 days of the last month and 12 leave days are unpaid:
| Last salary (20 days) | AED 8,000.00 |
| Gratuity (Article 51) | AED 41,414.79 |
| 12 unused leave days | AED 2,880.00 |
| Final settlement | AED 52,294.79 |

Common questions
What is included in a final settlement in UAE?
Unpaid salary, your end-of-service benefit, pay for earned annual leave you did not take, notice pay where it applies, and any other dues such as overtime, minus loans or advances.
When must the final settlement be paid in UAE?
Within 14 days of the contract ending (Article 53 of Decree-Law 33 of 2021).
Is unused leave paid on basic or total salary?
This calculator uses the basic wage, the same basis as UAE gratuity. Your contract may pay leave on a higher wage, and the better term applies.
Do I get notice pay if my employer ends my contract?
If your employer ends an open-ended contract without giving the statutory notice (At least 30 days and no more than 90 days), you are owed wages for the notice not given. This usually does not apply to a lawful dismissal for misconduct.
Can my employer deduct money from my final settlement?
Yes, for sums you genuinely owe such as loans and advances, or notice pay if you resigned without serving notice. Ask for a written statement of every deduction before you sign.
