How it is calculated
- Basis: Basic wage.
- Hourly wage: monthly wage ÷ 30 days ÷ normal daily hours.
- Premiums: +25% · night +50% · rest day +100%.
- Rest-day or public-holiday work earns at least double the basic wage, or a day off in lieu.

An employee on OMR 600.00 a month, working 8 hours a day, did 20 hours of regular overtime this month:

What to know in Oman
Article 71 of Oman's Labour Law pays overtime on basic wage: the normal hourly rate plus 25% for ordinary extra hours and plus 50% for night hours. The calculator's hourly wage is basic ÷ 30 ÷ your normal daily hours.
Work on a rest day or public holiday earns at least double the basic wage, or a day off in lieu. Because the premium sits on basic pay, which in Oman includes any periodic allowance, check how your contract defines basic wage before comparing your overtime with colleagues.
