How it is calculated
- Basis: Basic wage.
- Hourly wage: monthly wage ÷ 30 days ÷ normal daily hours.
- Premiums: +25% · night +50% · rest day +150% (night: 9 pm to 6 am).
- Rest-day (Friday) work earns basic plus at least 150%, or a day in lieu. Shift workers are excluded from the night rate.

What to know in Qatar
Under Articles 74 and 75 of Qatar's Labour Law, overtime is paid on basic wage at the normal hourly rate plus at least 25%, rising to plus 50% for hours between 9 pm and 6 am. Shift workers are excluded from the night rate. The hourly wage in the calculator is basic ÷ 30 ÷ your normal daily hours.
Work on the weekly rest day, normally Friday, earns basic plus at least 150%, or a day off in lieu. Those are legal minimums, so a contract can pay more. Because overtime is calculated on basic pay, check the basic figure on your WPS payslip; it is often well below your total salary.
