How it is calculated
- Last salary: total monthly salary ÷ 30 × days worked but not yet paid.
- Indemnity: half a month’s wage for each of years 1–3, then one month’s wage for each year after 3, on your last basic wage plus social allowance.
- Unused leave: basic wage ÷ 30 × earned leave days not taken. Annual entitlement: 30 days (Article 58).
- Notice pay: total salary ÷ 30 × notice days not served. The employer pays it if it ended the contract without notice; it is deducted from you if you resigned without serving notice. Statutory notice: 30 days, either party (Art. 99).
- Deductions: loans, advances or other sums you genuinely owe. You can ask for each one in writing.
Worked example
An employee on BHD 700.00 a month (BHD 420.00 of it basic) worked from 1 January 2019 to 31 March 2026, the employer ended the contract, and 20 days of the last month and 12 leave days are unpaid:
| Last salary (20 days) | BHD 466.67 |
| Indemnity (Article 116) | BHD 2,415.86 |
| 12 unused leave days | BHD 168.00 |
| Final settlement | BHD 3,050.53 |

Common questions
What is included in a final settlement in Bahrain?
Unpaid salary, your end-of-service benefit, pay for earned annual leave you did not take, notice pay where it applies, and any other dues such as overtime, minus loans or advances.
When must the final settlement be paid in Bahrain?
The law sets payment rules; ask your employer for the payment date in writing and contact the labour ministry if it is late.
Is unused leave paid on basic or total salary?
This calculator uses the basic wage, the same basis as Bahrain gratuity. Your contract may pay leave on a higher wage, and the better term applies.
Do I get notice pay if my employer ends my contract?
If your employer ends an open-ended contract without giving the statutory notice (30 days, either party), you are owed wages for the notice not given. This usually does not apply to a lawful dismissal for misconduct.
Can my employer deduct money from my final settlement?
Yes, for sums you genuinely owe such as loans and advances, or notice pay if you resigned without serving notice. Ask for a written statement of every deduction before you sign.
