United Arab Emirates

  • Overtime pay: Work beyond normal hours must be compensated at not less than your basic hourly rate multiplied by 1.25 on ordinary days, and 1.5 on weekly rest days and public holidays (Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021).
  • Hourly rate: Derived from your basic salary; this calculator uses (monthly × 12) ÷ (52 × 48) as commonly applied for overtime.
  • Night work: Additional pay can apply for work between 9pm and 4am on top of overtime rates where applicable.
  • Limits: Normal overtime is generally capped at two hours per day except in emergencies — check your contract and internal policies.
  • Complaints: If you are not paid correctly, you can raise a case with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE), which provides dispute resolution services.

Saudi Arabia

  • Overtime pay: Overtime is generally paid at 150% of the normal hourly wage for additional hours (Labour Law Article 107).
  • Friday & holidays: Work on weekly rest days and official holidays is typically compensated at the same overtime multiplier unless your contract specifies otherwise.
  • Ramadan: Working hours are reduced during Ramadan; overtime is calculated on time worked beyond the reduced schedule.
  • GOSI: Employees may have statutory social insurance deductions — overtime still counts as part of wage claims.
  • Complaints: Labour disputes can be raised through the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) (hrsd.gov.sa).
